Dear law school buddies,
I am Maurice R. Cordeiro. It has been a while since I saw you all. It is funny how people that were so close and inseparable can stay for so long without seeing each other, isn’t it? If memory serves me correctly, it has been like 30 years since I last saw you all. That’s quite a long time huh! I bet a lot must have changed with your lives by now.
It is crazy that it has been this long since I met you guys. I am now an old man, 57 years old. I have a beautiful wife with three children. My first born is in campus right now pursuing a degree in Business Administration. He is dating and has plans to get married as soon as he finishes his course. This means that I will be a grandfather soon. Can you believe that?
Well, the last time I was with you guys in law school I was so excited about becoming a lawyer. But things changed the moment I stepped out of law school. My interests changed, and I started pursuing something a bit different. I know most of you will not believe when I say this, but I am currently a consultant. This is what I have been doing all these years. I have never stepped foot in a court of law to handle a case. This will come as a surprise to most of you considering how passionate I was about law, but trust me this is what I do for a living.
I live in Swainsboro, GA. I remember telling you guys that that is where I plan to settle after law school. Well, at least that didn’t change. It is a really nice neighborhood. People here are really nice, and I have enjoyed my stay so far. I still love going swimming during the weekends with my family. It reminds me of us when we were still in law school. We will always go to that swimming pool near the school to unwind and get our minds off the books.
Do you guys remember how I used to admire the vehicle that one of our teachers at law school had? If I can remember correctly, his name was Dr. Albert and his vehicle was a Rolls-Royce Corniche. Well, guess what, I bought a 2005 Rolls-Royce Corniche too. That is the vehicle I am driving now. I guess it is true what they say; be careful what you wish for. But it is a really nice car. I am not complaining at all.
Anyway, if you guys read this, please write back to me. I would like to hear details about what is going with your lives. Let me know what you have been up to, where you have been all this time, what has changed, and so on. I have missed you all very much. I am really sorry that I lost touch with every one of you. I hope that one day we will get to see each other in person.
My wish for all of you today is for good things to come your way. Please drop me a line.
